Pastor Austen Welter
My wife, Amanda, and I are originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We were married in July 2010 and since then, God has blessed us with three awesome sons who bring exhaustion and pure joy into our lives. We love that God has given us this opportunity to raise these three little disciples for Jesus.
I graduated from Concordia University-Wisconsin in 2008. I later received my pastoral training and education from Concordia Seminary in St Louis and was ordained in 2012. God then called me to pastor a congregation in Cleveland, Ohio, until I received the Call to become the new pastor here at Zion Wayside in August of 2015. I count myself blessed to be Zion’s pastor.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) This verse has guided my ministry, and the Lord has offered encouragement to me through it many times. It reminds me of the reward that Jesus has won for me, and all the work that we get to share in as we strive to tell others about that victory.
I pray that in everything I do, I can point to the one who has done everything for me.
To God be the Glory!

Director of Worship and Music Education
Originally from De Pere, WI, I received my Bachelor’s of Music from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where I met and married my husband Jarret. We’ve been married 18 years and have two school aged daughters. Prior to accepting the position at Wayside, I owned and operated a private home bakery just a few minutes north of the church. After volunteering in our school and church for several years, my family decided to make the official jump into full time ministry. This is truly a labor of love for the congregation and the school and I am continually surprised and amazed by what God is doing here at Zion. My goal at Zion is to support and equip our congregation to make beautiful music that points to the One who sacrificed all.
“Next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise.” -Martin Luther
